Focus on a Healthy Mind by Jackie Muller, LCSW-R
If you are reading this chances are you already have a sense that something is out of balance in your life, or someone, perhaps your doctor has commented or noticed that you are not yourself. However you found yourself here, welcome! You have begun your journey on your unique pathway toward wellness.
More often than not, our mental health is the last area of our health that we attend to. Many will go to all lengths to check teeth, blood pressure, various body parts and pieces, but the most precious and important part of us can often times be neglected: our MIND.
Perhaps this is the truth for many because in our learning, growing and domesticating process, our caregivers, parents, family members, cultural leaders, teachers, clergy and other mentors have praised self reliance to the point that we are afraid or ashamed to need support. In the past showing anything but the ability to tow the line alone has been frowned on.
At DIWS we know that the road less traveled is more difficult to take, however when we connect with others along the way, some how the travel becomes a joy, and the pathway to wellness a welcomed opening in our life’s journey. When we acknowledge the struggle, feel understood and receive guidance and encouragement to be the change we wish to see in our lives, our mindset changes and as a result there is mental health. You have the answers within you, our providers have the skills to help you harness your strength, and become a stronger, more confident and passionate person in all areas of your life.
